Razorback
Rooftop
After having worked together a few years earlier on a modest makeover of the space , the owners of this urban rooftop terrace subsequently commissioned DK Design to execute a full-scale transformation. Working within spatial limitations, access challenges and strict building codes and zoning laws, our team developed a dynamic design with multiple gathering areas, engaging focal points and creative storage solutions. The dining area, shaded by a large pergola, and adjacent grill and beverage center are located close to the interior/exterior access point for convenient cooking, serving and clearing. Nearby, an outdoor living room boasts weather-resistant floor lamps, a fire-pit and a custom artwork that cleverly conceals a television and slides open for viewing. On the lower level, a tented pavilion protects a second lounge from direct sunlight and the occasional summer rain shower, while built-in seating serves triple duty as a room divider and storage for loose cushions. A vessel fountain,on axis with the entry to the space, draws the eye outward and upward toward the expansive views of the mountains beyond.
