This project for a busy and active family consisted of three primary objectives: Enlarge or replace an existing shed to create an indoor/outdoor room for games, crafts and doing homework; Update a crumbling, old patio; And, develop secondary destinations for al fresco entertainment. The result is a series of sophisticated spaces that draws visitors deeper and deeper into the garden. Working with the architect and builder, DK Design led the design and development of each component, meeting the clients' objectives. A new bluestone patio functions as a grill center and outdoor dining room. The new 'shed' or pavilion is an elegant, multi-purpose, four-season space that blends seamlessly with the architecture of the house and connected breezeway carport. The new fire pit, on axis with the pavilion, serves as both a focal point and a destination for cozy family gatherings.
